Going to Old Delhi...Spices market

Old Delhi is always busy and is always a race for the rikshaws to carry their passengers to this narrow city.

And even it was already 11.30 a.m, there were still a lots of people was sleeping on the road side or at the train station.

But a lots of them started their lifes early in the
morning by selling things in the market. Old Delhi city is devided by a lots of different catagories. This particular one is the one for the spices and vegetables but we still can find different thing too!!

So, just choose what you need!

Choisisez ce que vous voulez!

The smell of the spices are all over the place and with the beautiful colours.

And this is one of our favourite photos.

BONNE ANNIVERSAIRE pour ma maman Anum Jemali(03 Feb), Sabrina Seiler(13 Feb), Florence Conus(14 Feb), Lili Hirschi(15 Feb), Claudia Durst(19 Feb), Fanny Monod(15 Feb), Mohd.

Wednesday 14th Feb, we were at Seiler house to celebrate Sabrina's Birthday. Since Radhika (Sabrina's mother) were quite busy (I guessed)...so, I offered her to make a small pizzas for the kids. Of course, it wasn't me who prepared the pizzas....it was Augustin. He really can make a good pizza!! But the kids ate very little of the pizzas and I can say that the parents were eating most of them. Well, that's fine for me....as long as it finished.

Today, I went to the Sarojini Nagar market to get an aquarium. I guessed that it's a time to start my fish project after all these years. When I met Laurent somewhere in 1998, I had this huge fish in my aquarium until one day I had to get rid of it. We could have eaten the fish....but we couldn't as we saw it everyday in the aquarium. Laurent took it away and gave it to the bangladesh workers who used to work with him. They made a nice red curry with my fish and Laurent ate.......I mean he really ate the fish. Huhuhu..... Poor fish!!!

Welcome Spring!!

Thursday, I played twice tennis....in the morning against Ponie and her friend and late in the afternoon I played against Laurent for 2 hours. After few months I didn't touch my racket, it was hard to start again and more I had to play two sessions. But it was fun!!

At the end of that day, I couldn't walk anymore and i felt pain every part of my body. Well that's sport...isn't it??

Friday, it was another boring day. Laurent supposed to terminate his job early but as usual he came back late and I went to the wet market that morning to get the fresh vegetables.

Saturday, the sign of spring has arrived. It was raining the whole day and we could forget about our tennis game. The rain has never stopped and the weather was so cold. We decided to stay at home and being lazy once in a while.........felt good.

8.00pm, we had a dinner at Brigitte house. I haven't spoken much with Brigitte but we always said "hello" to each other everytime that we met and with this invitation, it was the opportunity to know each other better then before. Thank you Brigitte!!

Sunday, we read and watched the movies. The weather was still like the day before....colder!! Good Bye winter and see you again next year....Welcome Spring!

Sunday Walk

Sunday, we went to visit a handicraft market which is situated 45 minutes from the Embassy. This market has been organized once a year starting from 1st Febuary and it is fro 2 weeks. We can find a lots of thing that coming from all around India and we just need to have enough money. I guessed that we have spent to much money for the apartment until we didn't feel like we want to buy anything....perhaps next year!!

Later that day, we went to Kak Asmah house at the Malaysian High Commission to have a chat with her and her husband. I also gave her a small package that I need to send to Lukman at Abuja. Between the diplomatic begs, hopefully my package will arrive safely to Abuja.

Monday, I decided to make my driver working a little by bringing me to the market and visiting a friend that I haven't seen for the past few months that I was away.

Today, I went to the DELHI NETWORK meeting to meet people. I could see there is so many new people who just arrived to Delhi registered themselves today. I left a bit early...so that i could start my quilt. In the afternoon...I stayed in the between of the kitchen and my quilt. I tought Augustin to do a fresh lasagne, a fresh tagliatell and of course a mango and lime sorbet.

Our small nest in Kuala Lumpur / Notre petit nid a Kuala Lumpur.

Kitchen / La cuisine

Living and dinning / Le salon et la salle a manger.

The Balcony / Le Balcon
The master bedroom / La chambre a coucher (1ere)

The second bedroom / La deuxieme chambre a coucher

The third bedroom / La troisieme chambre a coucher

The 1st shower and toilet / La 1ere salle de douche.

All these works we managed to do in 3 weeks but of course not for 100%. The kitchen has not finished as there was no more stock at IKEA. Every once in three days we visited IKEA but the stock has not arrived as they told us earlier. So, we know what we will do next time when we will be in Malaysia. The dinning room is done and we are just waiting to buy a new sofa for a living room. At the moment our friends Radhika and Rene who bought one unit at D block put their sofa at our place in waiting their apartment finish by end of the year. It is good though we no need to stress to find what we like to have. All the bedrooms are not totally done yet due to the difficulties to find the correct size for the mattress. Even in IKEA, they sell the asian size and our mattress came from europe. It might take time to furnish the whole apartment but we will take time to do it. But a the moment, if you come...there will a bed to sleep....a kitchen where you can cook and the place to sit and enjoying a view of Kuala Lumpur!

Hello......

Hello friends and family!! It has been a month I'm away from the outside world. Wish you all Happy New Year....hopefully it is not too late. With the work that we've done for the past few week in our apartment and the internet crash in South East Asia after the earth quake in Taiwan, cut off our connection to the outside world.

Now, I am on the way back to India and make a stop at Starbuck at KL Intenational Airport to check my email and at the same time to update my blog that I really missed during all these times. I've been thinking a lots about it but I just couldn't put my fingertip on it. I hope that you guys are not dissapointed with my disapearance for the past few weeks. Tired and sometime frustrated with the work but at the same time we are happy to have our small nest.

Merry Christmas to all....

Le palais des vents / The wind palace / Istana Angin

We wish to all friends and family a Merry Christmas and enjoy the FOOD but don't get fat.....hahaha.
We just arrived from Jaipur but I guess we still have enough time to celebrate. Lamb leg serve with mash potatoes and the VEGETABLES.....!!! That's all for our Christmas dinner!! But it is so bad.

So, about the trip to Jaipur.......it was great and it was differant than Agra and Amritsar. People are differant. For the first time we could walk freely....finally without any annoying people around who always disturbing and asking for something. It was cool!!!

C'etait vraiment cool!!!

Indian Administration....

Few tips to handle the problems with the administration in India. Well, just don't think that you can solve your problem in one hour or one day, sometime it can take a week. Even how many supporting document that you provide, it won't be enough as they won't read the whole thing and most of the time they don't read at all as they don't understand English. If you are lucky, they will ask you to read for them and after that, they will ask you what is your name and where you are staying.....even it is already stated clearly in the letter. Or if they do understand English, sometime you will need to explain in english....or I can say that....in your own version. Wish you good luck for that. And that is the end of my story for today.

Makan.....eat.....manger!!!!

Sunday, 17 Dec 2006. Dimanche, 17 Dec 2006

Cheese raclettes in the garden. The weather was nice to sit outside and having the cheese raclettes....it was just something else. We invited the Seiler family who welcomed their newborn baby recently and Radhika's mother just arrived from Brisbane, Australia. I believed that I won't even stand on the garden during the summer because it would be hot.

Makan....makan and makan lagi!! We were invited at Malaysian High Commission just to eat and eat and eat. There were a lots of foods and we were really enjoying the Malaysian taste. It was delicious. At the same time, we could meet more people as in Delhi, it is hard to get near to one person and when we can...we really appreciate it. Perhaps it takes more time then other place. We just wait and see!!

My happiest day since I arrived in India

I went to the governement office today to get one paper that we needed to move our things to Malaysia. Since not everyone knows English, I brought my driver along to translate whatever I needed. But he himself does not understand English as well. That was funny!! The building is 5 stories high and at the beginning they sent us left and right up and down for 45 minutes. They took the letter that I had in my hand and look at it for a few minutes and then they told us to go there....there and left....right....up and down. Nothing is written on the wall, the name of the person, the room no., just nothing and yet when we asked nobody knows where was it. But this time, I was happy with myself or I made a progress of being calm to handle this type of thing. I wasn't angry at all even after they sent me left and right....up and down for 45 minutes and sometime they said a nasty word to me but I just don't care. Being angry with the people here, considered a normal thing. So, we aren't suprise if you are here and screw up everyone who's trying to get something from you but anyway GOOD LUCK.

Happy Birthday to all!!

In Delhi, the weather became colder then few weeks ago and somehow it will become more cold in the next coming week. It is nice to go and see thing while we aren't sweating like in the summer time. The flowers are also started to bloom and they make Delhi looks like celebrating the spring. We are enjoying the beauty of Delhi with so many flowers all over the places.

May be some of them celebrated early this month and some of them will celebrate in few days...but we just want to wish you all a Happy....Happy Birthday.

This wish goes to Mizam (03 Dec), Stephanie Lagattu (08 Dec), Sylvie Monod (09 Dec) Bernhard Schurch (12 Dec), Nadir Abibo (24 Dec) and Chi Meei (25 Dec). Happy Birthday to all of you.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND BIG KISS
Laurent and Meenz (NDH)

BON ANNIVERSAIRE a Mizam (03 Dec), Stephanie Lagattu (08 Dec), Sylvie Monod (09 Dec), Bernhard Schurch (12 Dec), Nadir Abibo (24 Dec) et Chi Meei (25 Dec). Bon anniversaire a tous.

BON ANNIVERSAIRE ET GROS BECS

Carpets....but not the flying carpets

We visited a carpet shop. The owner came at home to pick up Laurent because to find the way to get there wish you good luck. The owner of this shop is coming from Kashmir and doing business with the kashmiri people, we just can't get....not even 0.0001% off the price. But the problem is, we only can get nice carpets from this people. No doubt that the carpets are also in good quality and with very nice design. Who ever likes this kind of staff, definately he will fall in love when he see them. We are wondering how much it will cost us, if we buy straight away from Kashmir. Here, in Delhi....if you want thing, you just need to pay the price no matter how much does it cost. The eyes felt down on the floor when we saw the carpets that made in silk, silk and cotton and also cotton but they are too......too....too expensive.......without any 0.0001% discount. Huhuhu.......
Big kiss from NDH
Huhuhu......

Des legumes du jardin....c'est delicieux!!

We visited the garden today and took few pictures of Meenz's mother....actually not only visited but also collected some of the vegetables. We have so many of them and we can't finish them all. This season is also good for them to grow and we spend less money for having our own garden. Hahaha......don't be jealous!!!

The beauty of Agra.

Last weekend we went to Agra to visit Taj Mahal and other places which are also nice. Even it was only a weekend, we felt that we did a lots of thing in 2 days perhaps because of to visit India isn't easy at all. If you want to test how ZEN you are then try India. You will see!! We went to see Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri. All these places are so beautiful and it was nice if we could sit there and enjoy the view with the ancien monuments around us but there is always people who called themselves as a guide came and disturbed or sometime forced us to do thing that we didn't really want to do. That is only disadvantage of visiting India. Sometime we have to show them that we are angry, so that they can stop but they will try again and again!! We haven't been so rude in our life until we reached here, just to make them understand what is all about. We know that this thing won't stop but at least we prepare for the next voyage.
Agra is synonymous with Emperor Shah Jahan's monument to love, the Taj Mahal, which draws a huge number of tourists from India and the rest of the world. In the mere three generations during which city retained regal favour, it was embellished with the best of the Mughal architectural legacy, crowned by the Taj. Close by is Emperor Akbar's city, Fatehpur Sikri.
From the top : Meenz with her mother at Agra Fort.
Middle : Sunset at Taj Mahal
Bottom : Laurent & Meenz with thousand and thousand of others visiting Taj Mahal.

HIMACHAL PRADESH

Himachel Pradesh is a land of many splendour: exotic landscapes of mountains, wide verdant valleys, forbidding heights eternally covered in snow and ice, thundering rapids of snow-fed rivers and gently gurgling brooks, ancient temples and historic buildings.....the count is endless.
Kangra Valley. The Kangra Valley lies between the Dhauladhar range and the Shiwalik foothills, spreading northwest from Mandi to Jassur, near Pathankot. Although named after Kangra Town, the largest towns are Dharamsala (1,830 m) and Palampur (1,249 m). The valley is famous for its tea gardens, especially around Palampur, for the Jwalamukhi, Baijnath, Brijeshwari Devi and Chamunda Devi temples, and for the Kangra school of miniature paintings.
Dharamsala is located in the upper reaches of the Kangra Valley, set against the backdrop of the Dhauladhar range. The town is known around the world because it is the home-in-exile of the Dalai lama, Tibet's spiritual head, who lives at McLeodganj (or Upper Dharamsala), popularly known as Little Lhasa. Little Lhasa is enchanting, with its many spinning prayer wheels and fluttering prayer flags spreading the message of peace and universal harmony.

Do you need a ride.....please choose!!

This is one of the preparation for the winter that we saw on the north of India. It is quite loaded isn't it? We think there is no law for having overloaded lorry. It is quite impressive to see such thing like this and the pictures we took during our way to Dharamsala at Himachal Pradesh. Himachal Pradesh itself is so beautiful with the nature and rice fields are everywhere which makes the place look so peaceful compare with Delhi where the traffic is so congested. But our visit to Amritsar and Dharamsala (Himachal Pradesh) just for one weekend which was too short and the way was so long to reach these two places. This experience we will never forget as Meenz almost missed her flight back to Kuala Lumpur. But she managed to check-in 10 minutes before the gate closed. Thank god.

Lost and found....friendship!!!

These are the pictures with our friend Fares Al-Fayad from Lebanon. We have met him three years ago in Abuja and thought that we would never met him again. But this time we met him in Kuala Lumpur while he was working there for three months. That was the reason why we could meet there. Laurent arrived to Kuala Lumpur at 6.30 a.m on 21st Oct and Fares took a flight back to Lebanon at the same day but night time. We felt lucky that we still managed to see each other even though it was short. "To Fares" felt good to see you again and hopefully we will meet again soon and perhaps in Lebanon (in your country).
Big kiss to all from NDH
